Puck Handling Skills Test Players were required to move themselves and their puck around a series of cones as quickly as possible. Negotiating the course required a series of sharp turns around the cones. Several players slipped, but the final times turned in were all pretty close. The winner with a time of 17.34 seconds was Alain Savage of Montreal. Below in skating order is a list of the participants and their skating times. Each contestant could only use each opening once (e.g. if the puck went into the upper left opening you couldn't shoot at that opening again.) After the first round there were 6 shooters tied for first place. A shoot-off was held using the best of 3 shots on goal. Cory Laylin of Minnesota won the Accuracy Competition by firing 2 of 3 shots into the allowed openings. Nick Vitucci was eliminated in round 13, having made 9 of 13 saves (tough competition!) The final shooter broke the tie between Laurie and Alain Mourissette. Rob Laurie won the contest making 13 of 16 saves. It was quite a fireworks display of goaltending. Here is how the shooters did. (0 = miss, 1 = goal scored).
